Echoes Of The Landscape
Folk Project

Capturing Folk Traditions in the West and Beyond
The true essence of folk lives not in grand stages or polished productions, but in the rhythms of everyday life — in the stories told around kitchen tables, the songs passed down across generations, and the rituals rooted in the land. These traditions carry the voices of communities, reflecting their history, struggles, joys, and deep ties to place.

To capture folk is to witness the weaving of identity and belonging — how dances, crafts, music, and oral histories preserve memory while continuing to evolve. It is as much about honoring heritage as it is about embracing change, as new generations reinterpret old forms in response to their own time.

Folk traditions in the West and beyond remind us that culture is alive, lived, and shared. They are the beating heart of community, carrying forward the spirit of place and the human desire to connect, create, and remember.

We are a collaborative multimedia project led by Ted Munns, working alongside Rebecca Cunningham to bring together photography, art, and video in a creative exploration of folklore from the Southwest and beyond.

Through visual storytelling, we document myths, legends, and traditions—capturing not just their historical roots, but their living presence in the landscapes and communities of today. Our work blends striking photography, original artwork, and cinematic film to preserve and share these timeless stories in fresh and inspiring ways.

From the dramatic Cornish coastline to hidden villages and sacred sites, we seek to honour the spirit of folklore while reimagining it for contemporary audiences. This project is more than documentation—it is about connection, creativity, and keeping these stories alive for generations to come.
