Zannah & Tony’s Wedding - Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, Penzance, Cornwall
Zannah and Tony’s wedding was the second event of my wedding season. The first was an intimate, private affair where the couple chose to keep their photos personal. I had never photographed at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens before, so I visited the venue beforehand to familiarize myself with the space and even conducted a small shoot with my partner. The venue was breathtaking, offering an abundance of incredible locations for photography. I identified several specific spots that I wanted to use and felt genuinely excited about the possibilities for the big day.
My Afternoon began with capturing the arrival of the guests and the groom. We all gathered at the carpark where Tony greeted his friends and family, looking very sharp in his military uniform. From here we slowly made our way up to the pagoda, where the ceremony would take place. Along the way, I captured candid moments of the groom and his family soaking in the stunning views over Mount’s Bay. Having visited the pagoda beforehand, I had some concerns about positioning. I strive to shoot as discreetly as possible, and standing inside the pagoda during Zannah and Tony’s vows would have obstructed the view for their guests. To address this I shot from outside with a zoom lens, ensuring I respected the intimate nature of the ceremony while still capturing its beauty.
Once the groom and guests were settled, I prepared for the arrival of the bride and her family. When they reached the top of the gardens, I captured some initial portraits before tracking backward to photograph Zannah as she approached her guests. The ceremony itself was idyllic—set among the trees with a breathtaking view of the sea. I found an ideal vantage point from a nearby bridge. From there, I had an unobstructed view of the couple and was able to get some great shot without obstructing the view of the guests.
The day featured not one but two ceremonies, with the second being a beautiful blessing led by Annie Henery. This took place in a more open area on a scenic balcony where all the guests gathered. For this segment, I returned to my zoom lenses, maintaining a respectful distance while still capturing the intimacy of the moment. After the blessing, I had the pleasure of taking Zannah and Tony around the grounds for couple portraits. The gardens of Tremenheere provided a stunning backdrop, with countless picturesque spots that enhanced every shot. We made our way through the heart of the venue, capturing lovely images along the way, including the sky space which made for some unique photos.
This wedding was an extraordinary experience. Zannah and Tony were a wonderful couple to work with, and the day challenged me in ways that made me grow as a photographer. It’s the one wedding, above all, where I feel I learned the most. I’m already looking forward to shooting at Tremenheere again in the future and wish Zannah and Tony a lifetime of happiness together.
